5 weeks 6 days

Today the nausea has begun! It’s not too bad (yet), but I’ve felt icky all day long. I get really hungry but about halfway through whatever I’m eating (English muffin, penne pasta), I get totally grossed out and feel like heaving. Yuck! But at least I know there’s still something going on in there, right? Here we go…

We saw a couple of houses today that I think we’re going to try for. Both are really smaller than we wanted to go, but we’ve discovered that in our price range, you can have one of two options:

  • Big giant house (2000+ sq ft) that needs EVERYTHING remodeled
  • Smaller house (1400-1500 sq ft) that is move-in ready

With a toddler and a baby on the way, we are so not up for remodel hell any time soon. So we’re considering the smaller house route, knowing that we’ll probably have to move again in the next 5-10 years. These houses are only ~150 sq ft bigger than our condo, but they have 3 bedrooms, attached garages, yards, and one has a pool. So we’d be gaining space in those areas. They are also in a great school district all the way through high school – our current schools are no good after elementary school. We’ll see if we even get either of these houses. We’ve put in 3 offers and have had no luck so far. Sigh.

  1. Yay for morning sickness! (?) I really hope it’s not bad for you though.

We live in an apartment which I would guess is just shy of 1000sq.ft. and don’t have any plans to move for at least a few years. It’ll get squishy with two little ones, I’m sure, but I think we’ll manage. I’m sure you guys will do fine in a small house. It’ll just mean that you’re closer as a family! 🙂

  2. Excitement all around!! Good luck on the house hunt!!

  3. sj

Good luck with the house hunting! I’m so excited for you.

  4. Hey, you can always build an extension in a few years if you don’t want to move again! Remember location location location! You can always remodel / add on / build up later but you can’t move your house ( well unless you get a double wide!) good luck! Hooray for morning sickness ( sort of!)

  5. Exciting times!

Our house is a scant 1240 sq ft, and by my estimation, the four of us fit just fine… (My partner feels differently, however.) I grew up in a tiny house and still think that having two bathrooms is unspeakable luxury. 🙂

Have to agree about location, too. Everything else comes together when you’re happy in your neighborhood or town.

    Good luck with the hunt!

  6. Just getting caught up and wanted to say Congrats!!!
