I am at the RE’s office as I type this, about to have blood drawn and a pelvic exam (ew). Dr. Q says I need to wean in order to do an FET because the meds would be in my breastmilk. However, we don’t need to wait for my period to return to proceed. So if we want to do it, I just need to wean Monkey. OMG. Now we discuss…

OMG, best of luck at your appointment. Wow, so exciting and scary all at the same time. Is it mostly night feeding with Monkey?

  2. Such exciting news!!!! Wishing you lots of luck!

  3. Hi there! I know you don’t know me, I’m friends with Lil Monster and Mommies, and I’m really hoping you don’t mind me sticking my nose in here… I am currently 29 weeks pregnant and still nursing my 2 year old 🙂 Often, doctors will tell you that you have to wean because of certain medications, when in truth they really just don’t know. If you are not wanting to wean Monkey just yet then I would highly suggest you find out exactly what meds you’d be on, doses etc, and call the Dr Hale Infant Risk Center. They will be able to give you current, accurate info about whether you would really need to wean or not. Anyways, good luck to you, I hope this helps you a bit!!

  4. eeeee!! im so excited! keep us updated on the weaning, im not doing a very good job of that on my end.

re: the pp’ers comment about doing an FET while breastfeeding – i’ve done a ton of research on this issue, trying to convince myself it would be possible or safe, and i just cant get to that place. the *overwhelming* medical opinion seems to be that it isn’t safe. ultimately, i cant justify putting bird at risk just because i am in a hurry to ttc again. so, im trying to wean her and trying to be patient with it all. if you are considering this approach, i’d be interested to hear what research/opinions you find…

Exciting times. What are you going to do about Monkey? Just asking since I am still nursing a two year old a couple of times a day and not sure when when/how this will end 🙂 Any tips for gentle toddler weaning?
