>3rd trimester

>Dude, I’m only 3 days into the 3rd tri and already I’m feeling icky. I’m tired all the time, my back pain is getting worse, TMI…constipation ICK, and some nausea. I’ve worked from home 3 days this week and it’s been awesome. I’m hoping to continue the trend…

We toured the Women’s Pavilion at the hospital where little dude will be born last night. It was really nice. They have a separate entrance just for maternity, which is great with this H1N1 stuff going on. The entire ward is locked down. We saw 2 tiny little babies come through – they are SO SMALL! It was a nice facility and we got a good feeling being there. Yay!

Speaking of H1N1, my OB is telling me I should get the vaccination but they don’t have it and don’t know that they’ll be getting it. I called my high-risk OB and he also said it’s important to get vaccinated, but they don’t have it and don’t know if they’ll get it. So I asked at the hospital last night. Don’t have it, don’t know when they’ll get it. WTH? What are your thoughts on the vaccine and if you plan to get it, do you know where you’ll get it? I have this feeling it won’t be available in time. I’m trying not to be paranoid…

I’m a little worried that little dude isn’t as active as he should be. I do feel him every day, more than once a day, but at 28 weeks, I feel like he should be more active. When he does move it’s either a big old kick or these little movements that feel like he’s tickling me with his little fingers. Aw.

I had acupuncture yesterday for my back pain. It felt WONDERFUL and I had a great nap with the needles, but the pain was back in a couple of hours. I was really hoping it would last 😦 I hadn’t been to my acupuncturist since I was there for infertility and it was fun to see her reaction to my 7-months-pregnant belly. She and a woman in the waiting room acted like I was really small for 7 months, which felt good, too. The paranoid side of me was worrying that I was too small, of course, but I was just at my OB last Friday and she seemed to think I was doing great. CALM DOWN, MIND!

  1. >woohoo!! congrats on being so close to trimester 3! sorry you are feeling so achy, etc. im not getting either the regular flu shot or the h1n1 shot. ive never had them before and dont usually get sick. i have been washing my hands like a surgeon each time i go into the restroom though (which is often) and keep hand sanitizer on my desk at work! flu season usually kicks into high gear around jan/feb, and i wont be pregnant then, so im avoiding the shot. ive had the same reactions to comments about my belly being small. ditto on it being large. either way, i start worrying! ive learned the only appropriate comment to a pregnant woman re: her size is "you look great!" 🙂

  2. >I was just contemplating the whole H1n1 thing because at the clinic today there was a big notice for pregnant women to get it, but of course, there is no-where to go to get it!Have you asked your OB about kinds of movements or frequency of movements? Not being an expert I have no idea what is "normal' – but if it would help you feel better about it that could be worth asking.I am not sure if accupuncture is more cumulative and that if you had it more regularly the pain would stay away for longer – but that sounds like no fun at all:(I hope you get to stay home a lot for the rest of your pregnancy. If your bosses are up for it I say do it!Hope you get some relief soon. And yes, you look great!

  3. >It's GREAT that you're already feeling comfortable with your birth center….that's such a huge deal. I am sorry that you're physically uncomfortable right now. I hope that passes soon.As for the H1N1…my OB is recommending it, but I'm unsure if any of the vaccines will make it here by the time I give birth. And I'm not sure I'm that upset about it. I'm not completely sold on it. I did get the regular flu shot, though, for the first time in years.

  4. >Sorry to hear I'm not the only one that is experiencing a quick introduction to the 3rd trimester. It happened pretty much overnight! Feeling good one day and then Feeling BLAAAHHHHHHH…for the next how many weeks??? LOLAs for H1N1, My OB (who is an infectious disease specialist) is recommending it and says it will be available mid-November. I'll get it but I'm nervous as hell. I'm not sure how much of that is reading people's hysterical anti-vaccination propaganda or true facts about the risks. Honestly, I'm very surprised to hear you are having a hard time finding info on it. Things seem to be so different in Canada and so much slower. I didn't know this until last week but my doctor said our ministry of health has not released Tamilflu to pharmacies as of yet (only Relenza which is not for us preggers). What a huge contrast to across the border where people are being prescribed Tamilflu just for exposure to H1N1. I asked what would happen if someone needed it and they said "I don't know". Ack!
